FROM THE EAST – THE PILLAR OF WISDOM
Brethren,
What a fantastic Installation we had. I would like to thank everyone who showed up, and helped make 2023 “Installation of Officers” a success. I would also like to personally thank Worshipful Kelly Dixon & Worshipful Tony Shelton, for their presentation. As well as Brother Tim Scott, for the amazing food he prepared for our Luncheon. What a great start to the new year!
This month, we will be honoring our Sweethearts and Ladies, who I’m sure make it possible for us to do all the Masonic things we do. Please spread the word and then send me an R.S.V.P. We have already sent out invitations, but fear maybe we didn’t get everyone. On February 4th, the social starts at 12:30 pm and Lunch will be served at 1:00 pm. We hope to see as many of our ladies as possible.
I would also like to invite everyone to our Lodge “Super Bowl Party”, on February 12th. It’s looking like the game time will be around 3:30 pm. Please bring a dish to share, as this event will be potluck style. The Lodge will provide beverages such as water, soda and coffee. Feel free to bring something to sit on, like a comfy chair, as we will have a projector in the main Lodge room. TV will also be available in the Dining Hall as well. We are also inviting some of our local brothers in our district, from Rio Linda and San Juan Harding.
I am looking forward to the Month of March, as it is proclaimed by the Grand Master as “Youth Order’s Month”. Our Lodge is planning to support one of our local Youth Orders, Bethel #291. We will sponsor a prospect party for them, to help drive membership. A date is currently yet-to-be-determined, for later on in March. Please reach out to us, if you know of any young girls or ladies who you think would benefit from membership in Job’s daughters. I encourage all the brethren and family, to keep an eye out for our youth. The Masonic youth orders are our future in Masonry, and it should be our call to help them along.
Membership in the Lodge is looking brighter from the East. We fortunately have several new prospective members, that showed up at our January Stated Meeting Dinner. All thanks to a new candidate, that we will hopefully be voting on this Month. The Lodge officers are working really hard to complete these investigations, and move forward. There are some degrees on the horizon, and I encourage all brothers to participate the best they can, because it provides a memorable degree for our new brothers. Seeing degrees are strongly encouraged for all brothers who are advancing, as it helps to reinforce our memory work. As always, please reach out if you have questions and concerns.
Fraternally,
Robert W. Leach

FROM THE WEST – THE PILLAR OF STRENGTH
Greetings Brethren.
Now that Worshipful Leach has been duly installed, I looked forward to supporting his year in the East and following his leadership. He has ideas for improved fellowship opportunities, as well as opportunities to support our Job’s Daughter’s youth order. Please join me in supporting Robert and Capital City Lodge No. 499 in 2023.
We have an aggressive month in February. There are two candidate applications, which should have their investigations completed by the 1st and available to vote on at the Stated Meeting. After the Stated Meeting, just three days later, we will have our Monthly Breakfast. This will be directly followed by our Sweethearts and Ladies Luncheon. Robert and I will be participating in both events, but are in need of assistance from others. If you have time during either the morning or afternoon hours to assist with either the breakfast or luncheon, please let me know. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
I would like to thank Robert, Roy, Chris, and Tony for sticking around after our Worshipful’s “Town Hall Meeting” on Saturday, January 21st. We began the process of going through our basement storage, finding a lot of items that have historical and intrinsic value. We also found all manner of things in need of proper disposal. We still have some work to do, as we move closer to the beginning design stages of what is envisioned as a “Controlled Access Lounge” for our members and their guest.
I invite all who are interested in hearing about what’s going on with our Temple Association, to attend our February Stated Meeting. I will be presenting the Association’s Annual Report, and hope to see you there.
Fraternally,
Kelly Dixon, PM

FROM THE SECRETARY’S DESK
Greetings Brethren.
Ok, we are ready for a full year of amazing experiences, with Master Robert Leach leading the way for us all.
As Kelly has already informed us, the Town Hall Day went very well. Robert fed us all, in exchange for all our hard work. There were many topics of discussion for the upcoming year, which Robert said to discuss with our brethren at the next Stated Meeting. This will allow us to get a plan together for the coming year.
Brethren and friends, please try to make it out to our monthly breakfast for February. Then afterwards, join the Sweethearts and Ladies event at the Lodge. This is our first chance to recognize all of their help in supporting us, at the Lodge.
Stay tuned for the Lodge “Superbowl Party and Luncheon” event at the Lodge. It is a great opportunity for all of us to get together with family and friends.
Well, I have got to run for now, but I really do look forward to seeing all of you at these upcoming events.
Fraternally,
Tony L. Shelton, PM
Secretary
