FROM THE EAST – THE PILLAR OF WISDOM

Greetings Brethren, this will be my final Trestle Board article as Master.

Ok, for my last Stated Meeting in January, brother Kelly will preside.  I have really enjoyed this last year with all of you.  I am also very excited for our Lodge in the coming year, under Kelly. Especially since 2022 will be our year to celebrate 100 years of brotherhood.

For 2022, brothers Kelly and Robert will be establishing several committees, and will be in need of your assistance.  Our recently entered apprentices are practicing their degree work, and will be advancing early in 2022.

I am looking forward to being the Junior Past Master next year, and also being an active member from the level with my brethren.  Remember that the “Installation of Officers” will be held on January 8th at 2:00 pm.  Please try to come out and support these officers for the upcoming year of 2022.

Fraternally Yours,

Tony Shelton, PM

Master, (Soon to be Junior Past Master)

FROM THE WEST – THE PILLAR OF STRENGTH

Brethren,

As our January 5th Stated Meeting will help bring in the new year, I look forward to the opportunities and challenges that will come with my moving up to the East.  I would like to thank Worshipful Shelton for his service this past year.  Also, to those who pitched in to help make 2021 a success, know that Tony, Robert, and I could not have done it without you.  I am mindful of the trust that has been placed in me to lead the Lodge, and I am eager to continue our forward movement of growth and community involvement.

We will have a complete line of Lodge Officers to install this year, and I hope as many Lodge and family members as possible will attend our installation ceremony on January 8th.  A meal will be served after the ceremony has concluded.

I, along with Robert and Ed, have outlined a series of events throughout this next year.  They will provide opportunities for fellowship and learning, while be mindful about the valuable time of others.

At the January Stated Meeting, Brother Ed will be conducting a Walkabout.  On the January 19th at 7:00 PM, for the first time in a long time, our District’s OSI meeting will be held at our Lodge.  As a heads up for February, we are planning to have a Superbowl Barbeque at the Lodge.  Our annual Ladies Observance will be held on the 19th of February as well.

As discussed at our last stated meeting, we would like to try something new surrounding our stated meeting meals.  As I’m sure you’re all aware, the meals provided for these meetings are generally prepared and served by a small group of individuals.  For those who might like to cook certain types and/or styles of meals and would like to pitch in, we will have a sign-up opportunity for you to select a month to prepare and serve dinner.  For those who would like to help out, but aren’t quite so handy in the kitchen, we are preparing a series of meal plans for you to choose from.

May all of your holiday celebrations be filled with peace, joy, and brother love, and may health and happiness follow you into the new year.

Fraternally,

Kelly Dixon

Senior Warden, (Soon to be Master Elect)

FROM THE SOUTH – THE PILLAR OF BEAUTY

Brethren,

Happy New Year to all.  I hope this finds you well.  Either we all had the time, or will have the time to spend with family this Holiday Season. Not sure when everyone will be reading this, but I do wish that everyone will have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful Holiday Season.  I know this time is special, and I myself look forward to it every year.  While things in life can be crazy and busy, I hope we all take time to spend it with the ones we love and hold dear.

In January, we will be celebrating our “Installation of Officers”, and moving into another Masonic year at Capital City Lodge #499.  I’m looking forward to this day, and hope to see all the brethren there on January 8th at 2:00 pm.

It is exciting to say that the new core of pillar officers in the line, are off to a good start for this new year.  We have already met, and are on the right track for a new and prosperous Masonic year.  Our goal is to try to be as active as we can, with respect to everyone’s time and life’s requirements.  We are planning to utilize every Wednesday for either a practice or get together, for education or degree night.  This will hopefully take the stress off others on other nights of the week.

Some exciting events to look forward to in 2022, are Bowling nights, Baseball Game at the River Cats, Super Bowl Party and Barbeques.  Events like these we are planning, can always use the help of our brethren.  If any brother has an idea or wants to help participate, please let us know.

Many exciting things are now happening within our Lodge.  We have gained more brothers, and our membership is growing.  If you haven’t been to Lodge in a while, I encourage you to partake and come on down.

Hats off to Worshipful Tony Shelton on an amazing year. We also welcome Brother Kelly to the East, where the Sun rises.

January’s Stated Meeting will be met with a traditional pot roast  (including meat/potatoes/carrots), and dinner rolls.  Dessert is still to be determined, depending on what is left over from the Holidays.

Fraternally,

Robert W. Leach

Junior Warden, (Soon to be Senior Warden Elect)

A Sojourners Tale

Hello Brothers and Sisters.  Welcome to my first of many articles I am calling “A Sojourners Tale”.

I had the pleasure of visiting Redding-Trinity Lodge #27. (Redding #254 & Trinity #27 consolidated in 2018 to form Redding – Trinity.)  I went with Loyal Taylor, a past master of the Lodge as his guest.  We had a wonderful dinner of homemade lasagna and green salad.  I was invited to a seat in the Lodge by Worshipful Ron La Salla, who is also a member of Sacramento #40.  I also had the pleasure to sit with the past Grand Commander of the Royal Arch of California Myron Tisdel, and Most Worshipful Bruce Galloway past Grand Master of California.

Their stated meeting was conducted much the same as ours.  There was good fellowship, and I got to meet up with some old acquaintances of mine.

Cathlene and I will be traveling south in late January of 2022, and I hope to have some stories of visitations and places we have stayed.

Fraternally,

Matthew Ernst, PM
