FROM THE EAST – THE PILLAR OF WISDOM

Greetings Brethren.

Well, we have almost made it to the end of the 2021 year.  Due to Covid-19, we finally received permission from the Grand Lodge to start meeting again in April.  The three pillars then held our first “Zoom” meeting, instead of the normal in-person ones.  Since then, there have been bigger and better meetings each month throughout the year.  We have all managed to follow the state mandated guidelines regarding this pandemic.  Yet in spite of Covid-19, we were finally able to raise brother Alan O’neal to the sublime degree of Master Mason, after waiting for 2 & 1/2 years.

With the opening of our dinning room, we have had the pleasure of meeting several men and discussed Masonry as well as the possibility of joining our Institution.  Then consider the things we have accomplished during these eight months of meetings listed below:

This has set a wonderful stage for the future of our Lodge, which shines bright in all of our lives.

Thank you to all our brethren, for your patience in dealing with the many obstacles we have been presented over the last 3 years, from every direction.  We also appreciate all your support and love for our masonic family & fraternity, by not giving up during this time.  But instead, you rallied behind our officers and supported our attempts in getting our Lodge back on track.

With the addition of our new brethren, we now have the ability to expand the strength of our 2022 line of officers.  We can continue rebuilding the strength of our Lodge for years to come.

As I am now reaching the end of my 2021 term as Master of Capital City Lodge #499, I will soon come down on the level with all my brethren.  I am very excited to see our 2022 officers take action in this upcoming year.  I look forward to providing any help needed to assist them in their endeavors.

Fraternally Yours,

Tony Shelton, PM

Master

FROM THE WEST – THE PILLAR OF STRENGTH

Brethren,

My brothers, despite the challenges of the past few years, Capital City Lodge has persevered.  Though restricted from meeting, we grew in membership and found opportunities to serve our brothers, their families and our community.  We also partnered with the Elmhurst Neighborhood Association for a successful community pancake breakfast and a “Halloween” candy give-away.

I am grateful for, and would like to thank, all who stepped up to serve the needs of our Lodge.  This led directly to the successes we experienced in 2021.  I look forward to serving in the upcoming Masonic Year with brothers Leach and Caballero.  Together, we can continue to grow in membership and opportunities for service and fellowship.  Please reach out to Robert, Ed or me with any ideas you might have, that will benefit the Lodge.

Fraternally,

Kelly Dixon

Senior Warden

FROM THE SOUTH – THE PILLAR OF BEAUTY

Brethren,

It is an exciting time of year, not only for the Lodge, but for family as well.  I hope that this Trestle Board finds you and your family well.  Moving into the Holiday Season is a time of joy, and time to spend with the family.  I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and are looking forward to the Christmas Season as well.

Speaking of family, the Lodge continues to grow and add to our Lodge family.  I’m excited that during this and next month, we will be initiating more brothers into this wonderful Lodge.  We have been so blessed this year to grow our Lodge.  I hope that the brethren get a chance to come out and enjoy in fellowship, and welcome these new brothers into of our amazing fraternity.  Upon receiving this, we will have already completed our November degrees. Then we will be moving forward to December 8th, where we are also planning a Past Master’s Degree night.

As Worshipful Tony Shelton has described, we have made some huge accomplishments this year alone, with consideration to COVID.  This last half of the year or so, has been extremely busy at the Lodge.  Yet we are still growing, and looking forward to more engagement in the coming year with our brethren.

Congratulations to the officers that were elected this last month.  As we move forward toward Installation of Officers in January, we are all excited to start the new Masonic year.  I’m grateful for Worshipful Shelton’s time in the east, as we have all learned from his wisdom and experience.  Brothers, this is what it means to be a Lodge, to learn and grow from one another.

December Stated Meeting, I’m planning a traditional Christmas dinner with Ham/Rotisserie Chicken, green bean casserole and scalloped/au gratin potatoes. Dessert will be Pie – Apple. I hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday Season and a very Merry Christmas to all.

Fraternally,

Robert W. Leach

Junior Warden
