FROM THE EAST – THE PILLAR OF WISDOM

Greetings Brethren.

Well, it is November already, and my time in the East is almost over.  This year has been very eventful for our Lodge.  To start with, as of October 13th, the Lodge is enjoying 100 years of continuous membership as part of the Grand Lodge of California.  In April of this year, the Lodge was reopened for meetings, and we were once again able to come together for fellowship.  We are still working on renovations in and about the Lodge.

Recently, our secretary pointed out that with new this technology, we have come from the 12th century into the 20th century.  Most of the new technology we are now using, is geared toward rentals during our off-times at the Lodge.  This will better help the Lodge to support itself in the future.  We have tried to reestablish our commitments to our members and their families.

There are two end-of-month events for October.  We will be assisting the Elmhurst Society in hosting a Pancake Breakfast the morning of October 30th.  Then on October 31st, we will be celebrating Halloween on the front steps of the Lodge, by handing our gift boxes full of candy, for the neighborhood children.  Please come out and help unite us in supporting these two events for our local community.

We have been very lucky to be adding several new members this year.  If you have time, we are doing a triple First-Degree on October 22nd and a double First-Degree in November.  We hope to see you there.

During the November Stated Meeting, we will hold the “Election of Officers” for 2022.  Also, we will have an observance of the “Roll Call”, to honor our departed brethren.

December will be a slow month for the Lodge, due to the Holidays.  But we will be gearing up for the “Installation of Officers” on January 8th, 2022.  Please try to attend this important event.  It will be a great time for the brethren, and all their families are invited to join in the fun.

Thank you all again on behalf of Capital City Lodge #499, for your continued support in dealing with Covid-19 restrictions, as well as the beautiful remodel we now may all enjoy.  Please remember my brothers, that no matter what you do in life, masonry is truly in all of our hearts and is shared regularly with all people throughout our world.

Fraternally Yours,

Tony Shelton, PM

Master

FROM THE WEST – THE PILLAR OF STRENGTH

Brethren,

I would like to thank all of those who participated in helping us get ready for our 100th-Year Anniversary Open House.  It could not have been done without the selfless actions of so many.  We achieved completion of many projects that were envisioned almost two years ago, including the complete exterior painting of our home.  I hope all who attended enjoyed the food, fellowship and displays of our Lodge’s history.  I look forward to the future as we continue to grow together.

We have initiated four new members in October, and will initiate two more in late November.  I would encourage all members of our Lodge, to look to the future and see where they may be able to carve out some time in the coming year.  This way you will be able to attend a meeting or two, and provide some ideas on how we can better serve our membership and the community.

Fraternally,

Kelly Dixon

Senior Warden

FROM THE SOUTH – THE PILLAR OF BEAUTY

Brethren,

I am happy to report that it has been a proud month for Capital City Lodge #499.  We have recently voted on 5 new brothers to join the fraternity. Of those 5, we have just initiated three new brothers as of the night of October 22nd.  I would like to welcome and congratulate brother Steve, Jay & Bryan for joining the brotherhood.  I am sure this was already said to them, in various ways, Friday night.  It is my hope that each of you will get a lot out of Masonry in your future ahead.  I was filled with joy, as I’m sure the rest of the Lodge was, to be able to initiate two out of the three candidates.  A big “thank you” to Worshipful Matt Ernest, for stepping in for the remaining initiate.  Also “thank you” to all the brothers who showed up & participated in the degrees.  Each of you demonstrated to us, what brotherly love truly means!

I was deeply saddened that I was unable to make it to our “Celebration & Open House” for 100 years in Masonry, here at Capital City Lodge.  Unfortunately, I was stuck on the road heading back from Nevada seeing family and what not.  I heard that it was a blast, and filled with memories to come.  I also heard that next year will be our official celebration with Grand Lodge.  I can’t wait to share that with all of you.

I’m particularly excited about the end of October, as Worshipful Tony has talked about our “Halloween” event. My two boys and family will be showing up, and it’s a great way to show our family & friends what Masonry is all about.  I know we are all looking forward to the candy, refreshments and gift baskets as mentioned, but let us remember that it’s also about reaching out to our community as well.  I’m looking forward to the social part where we can share brotherly love, as well as spend time with family and friends too.  I look forward to seeing everyone there.

The Stated Meeting for November will be a Thanksgiving- style dinner, with mostly all of the traditional fixings. Oh, and did I mention that there will be PIE!!!!!!!

Fraternally,

Robert W. Leach

Junior Warden
