FROM THE EAST – THE PILLAR OF WISDOM
Greetings Brethren.
As our year is now on track, time is disappearing as 2021 is coming to a fast close.
On September 15th, we were able to raise brother Alan O’neal to the sublime degree of Master Mason. This is after a 2&1/2-year lockout due to Covid. We really appreciate your patience brother. On September 22nd, saw a 1st degree in our Lodge for our newest brother Derrick Ensminger. He is now ready to start on his Masonic journey. A special thanks to brother Kelly Dixon & brother Robert Leach, for taking charge and conducting an excellent 1st degree for brother Derrick.
On October 9th, we will be going to the Grand Lodge Communications. If any Master Mason would like to come with us, we still have a couple of empty seats available. On October 16th, we are kicking off our “100-Year Celebration. Our Senior Warden Kelly Dixon, will supply more information on this event. On October 22nd, our Lodge will be having a triple-1st degree. This will be a Friday event, and it will be longer than a regular degree, but worthy of your time my brothers. Our Junior Warden Robert Leach, will provide more information as well as his meal plan for the night.
We will also be having a double-1st degree on November 10th, for a father & son duo who will be joining our family.
November is an election month, and will signal that my time in the East is almost over. I cannot convey loudly enough, my pleasure in being able to have this year, with so many of you, my brethren.
Fraternally Yours,
Tony Shelton, PM
Master
FROM THE WEST – THE PILLAR OF STRENGTH
Brethren,
At long last, we are ready for our Open House celebration. We are recognizing our 100th year as a Masonic Lodge, and would like to share our Lodge renovations with family, friends, and neighbors. By now, you should have received the Open House invitation in the mail. But just in case it got misrouted, this event is being held on October 16th, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Refreshments and appetizers will be provided.
Though a few minor projects may remain, our building will have a number of upgrades including a fresh coat of paint, new flooring and new seating. Words cannot adequately express the extent of my gratitude, to the brothers who have supported our vision & endeavor of these renovations with their time, talents and energy. It has been a long journey, and we have overcome a number of obstacles.
Please know that your brothers have worked hard to make our home an inviting place to in which to fellowship. As such, I can only assume our efforts have created the environment which recently led to six individuals seeking admission into our Lodge, to become members of our ancient and honorable fraternity.
It is my sincere desire that each member of Capital City Lodge #499, will set aside some time to attend this significant event. I, along with the Worshipful Shelton & Brother Leach, look forward to greeting you on this event. Then showing you around the Lodge, and sharing in our vision of its future.
Fraternally,
Kelly Dixon
Senior Warden
FROM THE SOUTH – THE PILLAR OF BEAUTY
Brethren,
If you have not had the pleasure of attending a recent meeting and/or a degree, I am excited to let you know that we have 5 more brothers who are going to be getting their First-degrees soon. We just had a first-degree for our newest brother (Derrick Emsinger), on September 22nd. Please join me in issuing a huge welcome to him as well. Also, a shout out to brothers from GDML Number 853, for helping us to make this degree a success. They were able to bring about 4 brothers in to help fill the chairs and perform amazing parts for the degree. Again, thank you brothers!
Next, on Friday October 22nd, we are planning a triple-1st degree that will run into the evening. Dinner will be at 6:00 pm, and the degrees at 7:00 pm. We will be serving up Hamburgers & Hot dogs, along with sides. Cake will follow for dessert. This will be a very exciting and eventful night, to welcome in three new brothers to the Lodge.
Some of the brethren have been very active and involved with the cleanup & remodel of our Lodge building. Lots of incredible things have happened and are planned to happen, in the near future. As the Junior Warden, I am working on getting a brand new 65” TV and Sonos Sound bar installed in the Dining Hall. This, my brothers, will allow us to have more and better entertainment for future events like games and movie nights. Or maybe just hanging out and catching the game.
This month for our Stated Meeting, we are going to be serving BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw and/or green salad and an ice cream sandwich of sorts. Looking forward to seeing all the brethren there, as we have some voting to do for new members.
Fraternally,
Robert W. Leach
Junior Warden
