FROM THE EAST – THE PILLAR OF WISDOM
Greetings Brethren.
Well, August at the very least was challenging. With the state reactivating the inside mask requirements, which at our last stated meeting, we complied for the good of the order. However, on August 7th a few of us who participated at an off-site event, were exposed to the new Covid (Delta) variant. Unfortunately, 5 out of 7 exposed were confirmed positive with this new variant. This slowed all of us down, since we were forced to quarantine for a couple of weeks per County CDC mandates. Now I am happy to say that all infected parties have recovered and are doing well. A special thanks goes out to Kelly Dixon and Robert Leach for stepping up & handling the Lodge business during this time.
Getting September started, we have scheduled the Golden Veteran Celebration for brother Thomas H. Brown on the 4th of September at 2:00 pm. With all of these Covid delays, he has been very patient in waiting to receive his much-deserved dinner presentation at the Lodge. Also scheduled in September is a Third-Degree for brother Allan O’neal. It will be held on the 15th, at 7:00 pm. He has also been very patient with the Covid related delays we have experienced this year. September 22nd has been slated for a First-Degree at 7:00 pm for Derrick Ensminger. This is a “Full Tuxedo or Black Suit” Event. As usual the Stated Meeting will be held on the 1st, and the Executive Meeting is on the 8th.
For October, keep in mind that we have an “Open House” on the 16th. This will be our 100-year Kick-Off. Also, in October we will have a “Triple” First-Degree at the Lodge. It will start at 10:00 am, and last all day. Lunch will also be provided. Lastly, on October 30th (set-up) & the 31st (event), we will be holding a “Halloween Evening at the Lodge” for the local community. We will have baskets of candy for the kids, and hot & cold beverages for the adults.
Ok, I am now worn out having listed all of these various scheduling for the next two months. But I am looking forward to hearing from all of you to assist at these many events if possible.
Fraternally Yours,
Tony Shelton, PM
Master
FROM THE WEST – THE PILLAR OF STRENGTH
Brethren,
In addition to the number activities planned for the Lodge, we will begin the process of painting our “home” in September. We will be adding a fresh coat of paint, and making repairs to any exterior cracks on the building. While the exterior color of the Lodge will remain the same, I have been asked about the possibility of applying an accent color around the windows and trim of the building. Anyone who may have an opinion on the matter, or an idea of an acceptable accent color, please let me know so that I can present any suggestions to the Temple Board.
I will be helping out with the Stated Meeting Dinner in September, and have planned an Italian style meal with includes Lasagna, Chicken Fettuccini, salad and garlic bread will be on the menu. A variety of ice cream with multiple toppings will be available for dessert.
Fraternally,
Kelly Dixon
Senior Warden
FROM THE SOUTH – THE PILLAR OF BEAUTY
Brethren,
From the South, I’m please to say that our membership is growing. It is a great time for the Lodge right now, in the fact that we have at least 4 or more men that have started their masonic journey. This means lots of First Degree’s coming up, and I’m excited to be part of that. I mentioned 4 new members, but I’ve heard all kinds of numbers too. Brothers have talked about others who have shown interest in joining our great fraternity. Given time brothers, all good things will come together.
With that said, we are planning a First Degree to kick off the season of first degrees. It will be for Mr. Derrick Ensminger on September 22nd at 7:00 pm. As the Worshipful master mentioned, it will be a Tuxedo/Black suit event in the evening. Then in October, we are hoping to plan a triple or so first degrees on a weekend. This will include a BBQ lunch, breakfast snack and coffee to start. Events like this is what we are about, where the Lodge can come together to socialize and welcome new brothers in. I’m looking forward to seeing you all there.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make our September Stated Meeting, but Brother Kelly Dixon has so graciously volunteered to make the dinner a success. I will defer to his wisdom on a dinner select for you all, and I’m sure it will be fantastic.
In closing, I just wanted to jump back and say we had a fantastic time at the Checker’s Tournament with the Youth Orders. It was really nice to see the youth and their advisors too. We played the weirdest game of checkers I’ve ever seen, and Ice Cream with “ALL” the fixings was the end game. There were no losers that day I assure you. I hope everyone has a great September, and I’m looking forward to the Halloween Party next month. Especially about getting all the kiddos involved. This should be a great turn out.
Fraternally,
Robert W. Leach
Junior Warden
